Affirmation Stone Ritual

For years, I’ve loved the idea of having affirmation stones, but I never bought them because I couldn’t justify paying $8 for a rock that said “Peace.” But last year sometime, I walked into a gift shop and found some affirmation stones that were about $2-3 each and were far more vibrant than the ones I’d seen in the past. Some were made of polished glass and other from seeds. I decided to buy a handful and picked up a small basket from the discount section of Target and went home. Later that evening, I came up with this ritual:

At bedtime, I select a stone from the basket and hold it in my hand.  Sitting at the edge of my bed, I take 3 deep breaths (inhaling for 5 counts and exhaling for 5 counts) and meditate on the word on the affirmation stone. I don’t try too hard…I simply allow any images, thoughts, or sensations to emerge on their own. Then I go to bed. After doing this a few times, I discovered that I fall asleep and wake up with that word on my mind and heart.  For someone who is tends to be on the cranky side every morning, this ritual does wonders for my mood and overall attitude as I welcome the new day.
